Silver Yachts has created a new cat that can prowl both fast and far.
The fully custom 85-footer is designed to cover long distances relatively quickly, delivering an unusual combination of range, speed, and comfort. It is being built for experienced owners who plan to travel all across the globe.
“I am delighted that the client chose Silver Yachts for the construction of this unique yacht, which demonstrates our experience and capabilities with large custom catamarans,” shipyard founder Guido Krass said in a statement.
Ker Yacht Design developed the overall concept and is also responsible for the exterior design, naval architecture, structural engineering, and general arrangement. The British studio used an advanced Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) engineering process to develop the hulls, wave-piercing bows, and lifting foils as one integrated hydrodynamic package. The exterior will be entirely aluminum, with Silver considered a metalworking master.

The yacht can cover 2,000 nautical miles at 25 knots and 4,000 nautical miles at 11 knots, according to Silver. It is almost on par with the yard’s flagship explorer, the 128-foot Silver Adventure, which has a range of 4,300 nautical miles at 12 knots. That will get you from Florida, through the Florida Straits, up across the Atlantic to the Netherlands, for example.
“This is a genuine explorer, developed for experienced owners intending to cruise extensively and spend long periods away from normal support,” Ker Yacht Design founder Jason Ker adds.
With a beam of roughly 42 feet, the cat offers generous living quarters. Ker Yacht Design worked with fellow British firm Design Unlimited on the interiors, which have a residential feel. The yard didn’t give details regarding the exact layout. Silver Adventure can sleep between 10 and 14 guests plus six crew, though it is a good 40 feet bigger.
“The design centers around creating a home away from home for the clients, supporting both everyday life on board and the freedom to explore some of the world’s most remarkable destinations,” explains Design Unlimited creative director Mark Tucker.
The cat also has exceptional storage, Silver says. It can carry a 25-foot tender in a drive-in lifting dock, giving the owners the ability to come and go as they please.
The cat will be built at Silver’s Jiangmen shipyard in China. Construction is scheduled to start with metal cutting this month, with delivery planned for 2028.
