The St John’s Shopping Centre is proving popular with racegoers ahead of the Randox Grand National Festival 2026
A shop in St John’s Shopping Centre has gone viral for all the right reasons. From Thursday, April 9 to Saturday, April 11, the Randox Grand National Festival returns with three days of thrilling races, exciting entertainment and show-stopping fashion.
As the event approaches, many racegoers will be adding the finishing touches to their race-day looks. Dressing up can be pricey, but racegoers have proven in previous years there are ways to make the day more affordable.
From £26 SHEIN dresses to hauls of charity shop bargains, the ECHO has reported on many ways to keep the cost down. While searching for accessories for the three days, I popped into a city centre store where fascinators were priced at more than £50. I couldn’t quite believe it.
Fortunately, after a quick scroll on TikTok, I found a Liverpool city centre store that proved racegoers didn’t need to pay as much. In the video, which has been viewed more than 50k times, walls full of fascinators and hair accessories are visible.
In another video, viewed just under 30k times, a woman can be seen trying on fascinators at the store in question – Miley’s Accessories in St John’s Shopping Centre.
The store appeared to be an Aladdin’s Cave of hair accessories, something I was in need of with three days of racing ahead of me.
The Style Awards at Ladies Day are introducing two new categories this year, with one being ‘best hat’ to honour bold and beautiful millinery on the course. The second is ‘best suited,’ which focuses on tailoring. So what better time to go all out on an over-the-top hair accessory?
I popped into the store on Monday morning where I was immediately hit with dozens of beautiful fascinators.
The shop had several customers trying items on and staff were on hand to help take down any items to try on from behind the counter or higher up the walls.
From different styles of black and white, to vibrant greens, pinks and yellows, you’re completely spoilt for choice. There was all different shapes and styles that come within a reasonable price range. The most expensive I managed to come across was less than £30.
I actually couldn’t pick a favourite because they were all so stunning and with many oversized styles around the £20 to £30 mark, it’s certainly a lot more affordable than some high street stores.
The shop is also home to children’s hair accessories, frilly socks and bows. I’m really not surprised it’s proving popular on social media with such a variety of beautiful items.
