Sort Your Life Out’s Dilly Carter has named one drink that can leave your jewellery “sparkling”. Professional organiser Dilly rose to fame when she joined the cast of Sort Your Life Out in 2021.
Along with presenter Stacey Solomon, carpenter Robert Bent, and cleaner Iwan Carrington, Dilly goes into family homes and helps clear out and renovate the property. Away from the screen she boasts an impressive 450,000 followers on her Instagram account.

Dilly utilises social media to help others declutter their homes and workplaces. She recently discussed all things cleaning on the Sort Your Life Out Unpacked podcast with Janette Manrara.
The pair found themselves discussing how to get jewellery clean. Former Strictly Come Dancing professional Janette explained that she uses a toothbrush and toothpaste to revitalise her accessories.
Dilly however revealed she likes to clean her jewellery while enjoying an evening tipple. She said: “I pour myself a vodka and tonic and then I pour a vodka for the jewellery. Then I put my jewellery, all my diamonds and everything into the glass of vodka and it comes out sparkling.”
Iwan however explained that Janette’s method of cleaning is “perfect”. Although he says how he cleans jewellery would differ depending on what it is made from.

He explained: “Gold doesn’t tend to tarnish so we can actually get away with a little bit of washing up liquid in a tub of warm water. Give it a little dunk and give it a wash.
“A soft toothbrush for jewellery is perfect and I think a little bit of toothpaste you can’t go amiss with. It’s actually very good to use toothpaste on your silver as well because silver does tarnish and so a bit of toothpaste on silver, you can really bring that shine up.”
Elsewhere, Dilly recently revealed what happens to all of the clutter that features on Sort Your Life Out. It came after TV presenter Adrian Chiles was left baffled by the fact none of the items featured on the show were shipped off to landfill.
During a discussion on BBC Radio 4, Adrian said: “The genuine problem I have is that I just don’t want things to end up in landfill. I don’t want to sell stuff, I’m happy to give stuff away, and on the programme, there’s a whole section where it says donate, sell, recycle, but there’s no section that says landfill. But some of it must end up in landfill?”

Dilly replied: “Do you know what? It doesn’t because we are very careful with what we recycle. Everything nowadays can be recycled, even when we go to our local refuse centres, there are sections for absolutely everything and it does take thought, it does take consideration and it does take time.
“It also takes research, it takes planning, these are the things that put people off decluttering, and I really want people not to be put off decluttering.”
Dilly continued by noting that while the programme utilises an aircraft hangar, the concept can be replicated in your own property. She suggests “emptying completely” any area requiring decluttering and spreading everything across the “largest space you have”.
She emphasises the importance of “always start with a blank space”. Dilly points out it’s “really hard” to organise while surrounded by mess and acknowledges it can “cloud your mind”.
She said: “What we want to do is create a blank space so we can think, ‘Right, what would I do differently if I was to reorganise this space’.
