In Studio Ghibli‘s Howl’s Moving Castle (2004), Sophie and Howl are magically connected via a pair of elegant rings that repeatedly help them find their way back to one another. Initially released several years ago, the official “Howl and Sophie ring set” has once again returned to Studio Ghibli’s online storefront, Donguri Sora.

Donguri Sora‘s official Howl’s Moving Castle rings are part of the site’s “Mori no Pomponne” catalog. Named after the French term for “dressing up,” this collection features multiple pieces modeled after iconic Ghibli characters and specific accessory items that appear in the company’s animated works. Studio Ghibli Re-Releases Its Howl and Sophie Couples Ring Set for April 2026

Sold as a set, Howl and Sophie’s rings are made of zinc alloy and decorated with simple yet elegant floral designs. Designed to be as anime-accurate as possible, one ring is embedded with a rich blue epoxy resin stone while the other is adorned with a red one.

The latter represents the ring owned by Sophie, which leads her back to the moving castle after her tense confrontation with Madame Suliman. Though originally worn by Howl, the blue ring also helps Sophie find her way back to the wizard towards the end of the film.

As symbols of the heartwarming romance between Sophie and Howl, these rings are perfect for couples who share a passion for Hayao Miyazaki’s 20+ year-old fantasy flick. Additionally, cosplayers can also use them to add the perfect finishing touch to their Howl and Sophie costumes.

En route to her sister’s bakery, she is accosted by two shady guardsmen who torment her on the street. Howl — a charismatic wizard who is rumored to steal the hearts of young women — rescues her, but this enrages a notorious sorceress known as the Witch of the Waste, who turns Sophie into an old woman.

Hoping that Howl can somehow break her curse, Sophie takes up residence in Howl’s “castle” — a hodgepodge structure of debris and scrap metal held together by an irritable fire demon named Calcifer. Eventually, Sophie discovers that Howl is on the run from a country who desires to utilize his powers for warfare. Additionally, he harbors a curse that is gradually stripping him of his humanity.
