Fairphone is officially entering the US smartphone market with the Fairphone (Gen. 6+), a $649 unlocked Android phone built around repairability, long-term software support, and user-replaceable components.
Available through Fairphone.com and Amazon, the Gen. 6+ currently supports T-Mobile and AT&T in the US. It marks the first time Fairphone has formally sold one of its smartphones to American consumers, giving buyers another option outside the usual carrier and manufacturer lineup.
More Memory, Snapdragon 7s Gen 4, and Android 16
The Fairphone (Gen. 6+) is the company’s first handset with 12GB of DDR5 RAM, paired with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 mobile platform. Fairphone claims the added memory contributes to app loading and switching speeds up to 24% faster, along with a 20% improvement in multitasking allocation.

The phone ships with Android 16 and no added bloatware. Fairphone has committed to software support through 2033, giving the device a longer runway than buyers tend to expect from many midrange Android phones.
Other hardware includes a 6.31-inch LTPO OLED display, a triple-camera system anchored by a 50-megapixel Sony Lytia 700C sensor with optical image stabilization, and expandable microSD storage up to 2TB.
Fairphone rates battery life at close to 53 hours per charge, though real-world results will naturally vary with usage.
Twelve Replaceable Parts and a Five-Year Warranty
Repairability is the core of the Fairphone proposition.
The Gen. 6+ contains 12 parts that owners can replace themselves, including the battery. Fairphone says the components can be swapped using a single screwdriver, cutting down on the need for specialized repair equipment.

The phone carries a five-year warranty and has passed military-standard drop testing. Its predecessor received a 10/10 repairability score from iFixit, and Fairphone is continuing the same owner-serviceable approach with the Gen. 6+.
That could make the phone particularly interesting for buyers who tend to keep devices for several years rather than trading them in whenever the next model appears.
Modular Accessories and Fairphone Moments
Fairphone is bringing its accessory system to the US alongside the phone.
Users can remove the back cover and attach accessories such as finger loops, lanyards, and card holders using two screws. The phone is available in Forest Green, Horizon Black, and a new Cobalt Blue finish, with matching accessories also offered.
The company’s Fairphone Moments feature returns as well, letting users flip a physical switch to move into a more minimalist interface intended to reduce distractions. The updated version adds further customization options.
Sustainability is a Core Part of the Pitch
Fairphone says more than 50% of the Gen. 6+’s materials by total weight are fair or recycled, with 14 fairly mined or recycled materials represented throughout the device.

The company estimates the phone’s carbon footprint at roughly 30 kg CO2e per unit and says it remains 100% e-waste neutral. Fairphone ties the new Cobalt Blue finish to its work with groups such as the Initiative for Responsible Mining Assurance and Fair Cobalt Alliance.
Fairphone also says it has paid more than $1.25 million through its Living Wage Bonus program since 2019, which is designed to help close the gap between minimum wages and local living wages among participating manufacturing partners.
The Fairphone (Gen. 6+) costs $649 in the US and £569 in the UK and is available through Fairphone.com and Amazon.
