Priced at £45, the cost of the box combined with the value of the RRP and calibre of the brands make it one of the retailer’s most exciting hauls to date

There are some seriously impressive brands in the Boots Mother’s Day box including Elemis, REN and Kiehls

For busy mums, constantly juggling family, work, and countless responsibilities means that self-care often takes a backseat. But a new beauty box from Boots serves as a reminder to take time for themselves with an epic pamper session – and I think it might just be their best one yet.

I’m no stranger to a Boots beauty box. They’re a fantastic way to stock up on beauty and skincare for a lot less than the RRP, and the products inside are great for gifting throughout the year for birthdays and Christmas to spread the cost over 12 months.

I have previously reviewed several of their edits, including their Love Island All Stars box , summer beauty edit, festival box and more. As is to be expected with the sheer volume of hauls they launch, some are better than others – and it is a matter of personal preference about which products you’ll use and which you won’t.

But their newest We Appreciate You Always Mother’s Day Beauty Box strikes the perfect balance between high value, low cost, and seriously impressive contents.

The Boots We Appreciate You Always Mother’s Day Box is £45 but worth £259

The value packed into this box is exceptional. Priced at £45, it’s worth over £259 , which means anyone who buys it will immediately save over £200 on the contents. By comparison, the Love Island All Stars box was £45 but only worth around £130, while the Self Care box was £38 and worth over £180.

Inside, there are a dazzling array of premium brands that your mum will be undeniably giddy about. If I were to ask my mum to name her top three skincare brands she’d buy year round, should money be no obstacle, she would say Elemis, Liz Earle and Kiehls – and guess what? They’re all in there.

Among the 18 beauty treasures nestled inside , eight were full-sized products, with many of the ‘samples’ being rather generously sized too. As well as skincare, there’s a thoughtful collection of universally flattering makeup products, such as the No7 Stay Perfect Ultra Mascara Brown and a full-sized Laura Mercier Setting Spray worth £35 . What’s great is that none of these beauty products have a particularly obscure shade, making them perfect for any skin tone, too.

What’s more is that there’s nothing in here that requires any faffing around, like hair oils that need to be left on for 12 hours. There seems to be a real focus on fast, efficient self-care, like the Emma Hardie Moringa Balm for a quick skincare fix, to the Paco Rabanne Lady Million Fragrance Mini for an on-the-go spritz, ideal for time-poor parents.

But the other thing I think is really noticeable is that it’s not targeted to mature women, as some Mother’s Day gifts can be. There’s nothing in here that feels like it might offend anyone with ‘for wrinkles’ or ‘anti-ageing’ plastered across it, but equally, any of these products would be suitable for a range of ages.

Now, let’s talk about the real stars of the show – the hero products, and the ones that, if I didn’t love my mum as much as I do, I’d be tempted to keep. The REN Clean Skincare AHA Smart Renewal Body Serum promises to rejuvenate tired skin, and I can attest to its phenomenal smoothing properties, having used it in the run-up to a holiday last year.

Meanwhile, the Laura Mercier Setting Spray ensures makeup stays flawless all day long, because the last thing mums have time for is topping up their concealer throughout the day. And as for the Elemis Pro-Collagen Rose Marine Cream ? It’s a true gem. Its luxurious texture and skin-renewing properties make it a must-have for any skincare routine, and its rose fragrance is a gorgeous alternative to the OG bottle. This 15ml sample may be small but it is mighty – not to mention worth £37…

The Elemis Pro-Collagen Rose Marine Cream is worth £37 alone

The value of the products, combined with the calibre of the brands makes this one of Boots’ most exciting launches

With such a diverse but universally-loved range of products, there’s something for every mum in this beauty box, be it expecting parents, new mums, or seasoned veterans. The brands inside feel really premium and many are definitely ones you wouldn’t necessarily treat yourself to, but wait until Christmas and birthdays to stock up. As such, it feels like a really thoughtful present to buy this Mother’s Day, that will really make her smile.

Other retailers that have released Mother’s Day edits specifically include Lookfantastic with their £60 haul worth over £200 , containing 11 beauty treats, including Color Wow, Bobbi Brown, Rituals and more.

Meanwhile, Marks and Spencer shoppers can get their hands on more than £100 worth of free skincare and fragrance products when they spend £30, which also includes a £29 Floral Street fragrance. And John Lewis has also thrown their hat into the ring with a Mother’s Day Beauty Edit 2024, priced at £45, but it’s said to be worth over £130.

But for me, this really does take the cake. Boots’ Mother’s Day edit is ‘all killer, no filler’, affordable and fantastic value for money. They’ll do well to top this.
