PICS: Bespoke pink look wins Most Stylish at The Curragh

Glamorous ladies and gentlemen enjoying a day at The Curragh on Saturday certainly got the timeless old-Hollywood style memo.

Dozens of racegoers headed to the County Kildare venue in the hope of impressing the judges of the K Club Most Stylish award.

Of course, there could only be one winner, and the lucky person who took the crown on day two of the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby was Tariq Anwar.

Tariq was the only man to make the top 10 on Saturday in his custom pink linen suit, blowing away the judges to be named The Curragh’s first-ever male style winner. Talk about a history-making day out!

The Sandymount-based style winner’s bespoke blazer and flared trousers combo was inspired by the 1950s and made from Irish linen, but crafted in Naples.

While Tariq’s suit was the star of the show, his attention to detail and passion for fashion were also evident in his carefully curated accessories.

Tariq wore a vintage tie by Ralph Lauren with a pin collar shirt from Reiss, a Fossil 3272 watch, a pocket square he found on a street stall in Istanbul, and shoes from Marks & Spencer to complete his look.

Topping everything off was Tariq’s cream hat, which he picked up in Kennedy and McSharry in Dublin city centre.

Speaking with EVOKE after he was declared the winner of the K Club Most Stylish award, Tariq said: ‘I love my suits, they make me feel really good and confident.

‘Today’s theme was 1950s pastels, but my favourite era of fashion has to be the 70s. I love flares, big lapels, scarves, and hats.

‘The colours in the 70s were immaculate, and it was an era of fashion that felt like every man was really competing in the streets and loving life.’

Tariq has long had a passion for style, but doesn’t work in the industry at the moment and is in pharmaceuticals, although he tells us he would never say never about a creative career.

He said: ‘I have a strong knack for fashion and I follow and read what’s happening… I love watching videos about how the use of something has changed over the years. I’m always trying to learn.’

Tasked with picking the winner on Saturday were races style guru Marietta Doran and singer Una Healy.

Sharing a first look at the festivities, Marietta, who wore a dress coat by Silvia Ortega styled with a headpiece from Jennifer’s Hat Emporium and jewellery by IZABEE, told what she was hoping to see.

‘The brief today? 1950s glamour, think that timeless old-Hollywood polish. Let the best-dressed hunt commence,’ Marietta said on Instagram.

Una was also looking fabulous on the day, wearing a lovely halter-neck lemon dress by celebrity favourite brand, Club London.
