For decades, jewelled watches have occupied a delicate space between ornament and timekeeper. With the RM HJ-02 In-House Automatic Tourbillon, Richard Mille rewrites that narrative, presenting a collection that speaks to a new generation of women – one that embraces individuality and creative freedom.
The second chapter in Richard Mille’s haute joaillerie journey, the RM HJ-02 is far more than an exercise in gem-setting. Across 12 creations, precious stones become structural elements, shaping the watch as fundamentally as the movement or case architecture itself. The result is a series of luminous sculptures that blur the boundaries between jewellery, contemporary art and haute horology.

Organised into four chromatic worlds – pink, violet, blue or green – the collection explores the relationship between colour, geometry and motion. Rubies, sapphires, emeralds, diamonds and Paraiba tourmalines are layered alongside ornamental stones including turquoise, malachite and mother-of-pearl. Rather than merely decorating the surface, these gemstones create rhythm, guiding light across asymmetrical planes and sculpted contours. As the wrist moves, the watches appear to transform, becoming living compositions of colour and reflection.

Inspired by Art Deco geometry yet unmistakably contemporary, the RM HJ-02 reimagines Richard Mille’s iconic tonneau case through fractured lines, layered surfaces and unexpected transitions. Developed over more than three years, the watch is an architectural statement where every facet serves both aesthetic and technical purposes.

At its heart lies the new in-house automatic tourbillon Calibre CRMT2, developed in tandem with the case and gem-set structures. The movement’s skeletonised architecture is seamlessly integrated into the design, allowing gemstones and mechanics to interact in a continuous visual dialogue. The watch’s technical elements – from its variable-inertia tourbillon to its gem-set rotor – remain fully visible, reinforcing Richard Mille’s philosophy that beauty should never compromise performance.
