From Miley Cyrus’ Grammys bouffant to Beyonce’s new country-inspired curls, the next trend to hit the beauty world is ‘Texan hair’ and it’s all about being bigger and better than ever. The style is all about volume and bounce, and has been inspired by the American South’s love of sky-high hair.

With Texan hair set to be everywhere this spring, we obviously needed to know exactly how these celebs are achieving their closer-to-heaven tresses, and both Beyonce and Miley relied on various volumising hair sprays as a key product in their looks. Thanks to some of their go-to stylists we’ve got the low down on exactly what they’re using to get that big ol’ Texan hair.

Miley’s Grammys bouffant

Miley kicked off the big hair movement when she scooped her first ever Grammy award at this year’s ceremony whilst rocking a curly, 80s country-inpsired ‘do, complete with exaggerated curlys and sleek, volumised roots. For the Flowers singer’s Grammys look, her hairstylist Bob Recine shared a step-by-step guide to achieving her gravity-defying volume.

In an Instagram post, Bob wrote a full step-by-step guide on creating the style, starting by applying NEXXUS Epic Shine Anti-Humidity Spray and NEXXUS Prep & Protect Head Defense Spray to Miley’s damp hair. The Nexxus products are sadly not available to buy in the UK, however the Color Wow Dream Coat Supernatural Spray, £23.06 here (was £27), is another celeb-approved alternative that helps protect hair from frizz, heat and humidity whilst also giving it a glossy shine.

After blowdrying each section with a rounded brush, Bob created Miley’s volume with NEXXUS XXL Volume Hairspray, teasing the roots of each section and spritzing it with the spray to create volume and hold. For a UK-available alternative we’re loving another Color Wow product, the COLOR WOW Raise the Root Thicken + Lift Spray, £10.45 here, which gives even fine, flat hair extra volume and hold.

Bob then added some velcro rollers to the top of Miley’s hair to give some extra bounce and movement – not to mention those perfect country-style curls. Finally, he finished off by applying a few drops of oil to the lengths for some added shine, and hey presto – flawless, glossy and bouncy Texan hair that’ll withstand an entire Grammys performance.

Beyonce’s country curls

Ever since the first cowboy hat appeared during her Renaissance world tour, we’ve been anticipating a more country-inspired style from Beyonce, and she hasn’t disappointed. With the release of her two new singles, Texas Hold ‘Em and 16 Carriages which both have a country feel to them, Queen B also shared a series of photos of her with larger than life blonde curls.

Her go-to stylist Neal Farinah also shared a pick of Beyonce’s southern style captioned: “My favourite Texan hair @beyonce” before adding: “My favourite hair styling products @cecred”, revealing that he’d created the voluminous curls using Bey’s much-anticipated new haircare brand, Cécred, to create the look. Although her products aren’t available for sale just yet, set your alarms, because they officially launch tomorrow February 20.

Although we have yet to see exactly what products will be included in Beyonce’s new haircare brand, from teaser videos on the brand’s Instagram it seems we’ll be getting some form of serum or oil that’s all about boosting shine and, no doubt, something to help define and volumise curls. In the meantime, though, you can give your hair a volumising boost with each wash by using a shampoo and conditioner duo like Neal and Wolf’s Amplify Body & Soul Volumising Shampoo & Conditioner, £44 here (was £55) , to give it some extra body and height.

If you want to add even more shine and sleekness to your tresses, we’re loving these GHD straighteners that helped create red carpet glam at this year’s BAFTAs. Rollers at the ready – Texan hair is here, and it’s bigger and better than ever.
