This battery upgrade is joined by faster wired and reverse wired charging (45 W/22.5 W) and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 chipset. However, the Redmi 17 5G includes a few downgrades, including a slower, lower resolution and dimmer IPS display that resolves at 120 Hz, 720p and 825 nits. By contrast, the Redmi 15 5G contains a 144 Hz, 1080p and 850-nit display.
Currently, Xiaomi charges €269.90 (~$311) for the Redmi 17 5G in Italy with 4 GB of RAM, 128 GB of storage and a choice between Black, Deep Blue and Vivid Orange colours. Meanwhile, SKUs with twice as much storage cost €299.90 (~$345). In comparison, the same handset starts at MYR 769 and THB 7,999 (~$241) before rising to MYR 869 and THB 8,999 (~$272) with 4 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage.
