Kia has announced that the EV4 hatchback has become its first car eligible for the UK Government’s Electric Car Grant at the £3,750 ‘Band One’ level.
The eligibility applies to the EV4 with the Air and Motion trim levels, effectively reducing the starting price of the range to £30,995.
These versions of the EV4 were previously eligible for the grant at the £1,500 ‘Band Two’ level. GT-Line and GT-Line S versions of the EV4 remain ineligible for the grant.

The EV4 Air and Motion variants are said to have become eligible for the £3,750 grant following additional environmental sustainability evidence being provided to the Government, and a reassessment of the European-produced battery used in the model.
Reduced EV4 prices confirmed
Including the grant, OTR prices are now £30,995 for an EV4 Air with a 58.3kWh Standard Range battery, £33,245 for an Air with an 81.4kWh Long Range battery, and £36,745 for a Motion, which is only available with the Long Range battery,
The Motion trim is the latest addition to the EV4 range, and features standard equipment including an eight-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, cloth and artificial leather upholstery, outer rear heated seats, surround view and blind-spot view monitoring and an electrically adjustable driver’s seat including lumbar support. Motion trim shares many styling elements with the Air trim, including 17-inch alloy wheels, body-coloured door mirrors and side sills, black wheel arches and silver window surrounds.
Other Kia models with Electric Car Grant eligibility are the EV2, EV3, and PV5 Passenger – all at the £1,500 level. Kia says it expects some versions of the EV2 to also become eligible for the full £3,750 grant later this year.
