Bid to turn historic Warwick building to wedding venue | Local News | News | Warwick Nub News

Plans to turn part of a grade II listed Warwick building into a wedding and events venue have been submitted to Warwick District Council.

RHG Manor Ltd has applied for permission to change the ground floor of Longbridge Manor from office space to hospitality purposes.

Plans state the building – which was most recently used as a corporate headquarters – would cater for up to 110 guests at a time.

“The proposal seeks to secure an appropriate and economically viable use for part of an important heritage asset in a manner that responds positively to the character of the building and its setting,” the application stated.

“The proposed wedding/civil ceremonies and events use is considered particularly well suited to the form, appearance and historic qualities of the Manor House and will support its long-term active occupation and maintenance.”

Four rooms would be offered, one with up to 110 seats, and the other three ranging from 24 to 28 seats.

RHG said the venue would also host charity events and private functions.

The application continued: “A wedding and events venue supports direct employment as well as indirect spending through catering, accommodation, transport, floristry, photography, event management and wider visitor expenditure.

“The proposal should therefore be viewed as a change in the nature of economic activity on the site rather than its removal.”

A supporting report from local property agent Bromwich Hardy said the manor was marketed from March 2024 to December 2025.

Originally it was priced at £2 million, with the price eventually dropping to £1.3 million before the first offer came in – after 21 viewings.

The agent said this demonstrates the lack of need for such offices locally.

“We take the view that Longbridge Manor does not cater to the office market in the current climate and would serve the local area much better if converted to a more prosperous use,” the report said.

“The building and grounds are a wonderful historic asset for Warwick, which ought to be utilised to serve the local economy, instead of running the risk of staying vacant for an extensive period of time.

“We would therefore recommend that a change of use is sought for the property, in order to unlock its vast potential.”
