The Cupra Raval, Volkswagen ID.Polo and Skoda Epiq will hit driveways soon

The first Cupra Ravals and ID.Polos have just rolled off the production line at Seat’s Martorell plant in Spain.

This marks the manufacturing launch of two of the Volkswagen Group’s most important electric cars. Why so important? Well, they’re set to be the most affordable electric cars the group has to offer.

Both the Raval and the ID.Polo are targeted at urban drivers under the ‘electric urban car family’, designed to bring more affordable EVs to Europe and so Volkswagen and Cupra expect them to sell in big numbers.

Besides potential sales, Cupra and Seat have invested more than £2.6 billion in the Martorell plant in a major transformation of a factory which now positions Martorell as a key EV production hub for Europe.

Being the sportier offering and the Spanish native, it seems only natural that a Cupra Raval was the first car to roll off the line and was welcomed into the world by Volkswagen Group CEO Oliver Blume and Spanish prime minister Pedro Sánchez.

The Raval and the ID.Polo are joined on the production line by cousin Skoda Epiq. All three are capable of 280 miles of WLTP range and V2L (vehicle-to-load) charging.

Similar as they may be, the three are targeted at their own market segments. The ID.Polo is the most mainstream and is expected to be bought by existing Polo and Golf customers, downsizing families and fleet users.

The Cupra Raval is aimed at younger and more fashionable buyers with its design and lifestyle focus and hot hatch credentials. Meanwhile, the Skoda Epiq is more budget-focused, appealing to small families and practically minded customers.

With production now well underway, the first deliveries of Ravals, ID.Polos and Epiqs can’t be far away. Have you got your order in yet?
