VW says it will start putting chatbot ChatGPT into its cars in the second half of 2024, including models from the Golf, ID, Passat and Tiguan lines. It will be part of the car’s IDA voice assistant. That’s right, it’s another name you’ll need to remember alongside Siri and Alexa. According to Volkswagen: “The IDA voice assistant can be used to control the infotainment, navigation, and air conditioning, or to answer general knowledge questions.” Hey, if it stops people from fiddling with their phones and dashboard GPS screens while driving, maybe it’s not a bad idea.
