We’ve rounded up all of the big announcements from this year’s IFA tech show in Berlin which first began in 1924.

Cutting-edge tech brands such JBL Audio, Samsung, Sony, Honor, Lenovo, Switchbot, Jabra, Bosch, TCL, Sharp, Dangbei, JLab and Sennheiser were among those who took the wraps off their new kit.

Legion Go handheld gaming device set to take on Rog Ally and Steam Deck

The new Lenovo Legion Go is the company’s first Windows gaming handheld device that gives gamers more freedom to game however—and wherever—they want.

It will be seen as a direct competitor to Steam Deck, Asus Rog Ally and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.

Lenovo Legion Go features an 8.8in QHD+ (2,560 x 1,600 resolution) IPS LCD display with a refresh rate of 144Hz.

The panel has a peak brightness of 500 nits and Lenovo said that it is designed for gamers whowant top-tier specs and visuals on their handheld device.

The firm also announced new micro-OLED-equipped Lenovo Legion Glasses and new Lenovo Legion E510 7.1 RGB Gaming In-Ear Headphones designed as companion accessories for the device.

Jabra true wireless earphones

Jabra Elite 8 Active and Elite 10 are new flagship earphones for the gym and the office.

The former now feature robust durability ratings and the firm says they are its toughest earbuds yet, made for those who love working out.

Jabra Elite 10 are the new top tier model and are optimised for Dolby Atmos with Dolby Head Tracking, engineered for all-day comfort and promise crystal clear calls.

The two new models both come with Spatial Sound, Advanced ANC, optimal battery life and compact design to power you through work and life.

Affordable premium TVs from Sharp

Sharp Consumer Electronics, one of the world’s leading technology companies, is expanding its premium TV segment and the company introduced three new Mini LED series at IFA.

The firm also introduced its new FQ series, which are QLED devices with Harman Kardon speaker systems. The new TVs combine advanced display and audio technologies with sleek frameless design and a host of smart features. And they come with a wide range of Smart TV solutions with Google TV, Roku TV and Smart TVs Powered by TiVo.

Extra large premium TVs from TCL

TCL’s flagship QD-Mini LED TV X955 features more than 5,000 full array local dimming zones and more than 5,000 nits of peak brightness, offering a level of detail and vibrancy that redefines the viewing experience.

Equipped with QLED technology, TCL X955 produces more than a billion colours and on top of its exceptional picture quality, X955 features powerful cinematic audio performance and striking design – 4.2.2 channel solution, a maximum of 160W Onkyo audio system as well as Dolby Atmos – all in an ultra-slim, bezzle-less design with latest cable management.

The TCL X95 Series will be available in up to 85in and 98in large sizes in select global markets

AMBEO Mini Soundbar

German audio brand Sennheiser’s award-winning AMBEO Soundbar experience is now available in a new versatile and affordable size: the Sennheiser AMBEO Soundbar Mini.

With a sound that punches well above its weight and up to 7.1.4 virtualisation, the latest addition to the spatial audio Soundbar family readies even the smallest of spaces for three-dimensional acoustics.

Bosch Series 8 oven

Healthier oven cooking from Bosch

Bosch is offering steam cooking at up to 120 degrees C with its new Series 8 ovens. The clever combination of hot air and steam prepares, for example, potatoes, beet or beans faster than with classic steam cooking. The firm said that up to 54 percent more nutrients and up to 25 percent more vitamin C are retained.

In addition, the ovens have an Air Fry function that means that foods that previously required a lot of fat in preparation can now be crispy and aromatic even with little fat.

The Series 8 oven can be controlled using the Home Connect app which can quickly and easily find the right program for many dishes.

The premium ovens feature an eye-catching large TFT Touch Display and grooved Digital Control Ring which are all-glass and can be easily cleaned with a wipe.

AI food app from Samsung

Samsung has launched an AI food app that it says is ideal for recipe searching, saving and sharing, meal planning, cooking and grocery shopping. Samsung Food is available in 104 countries and eight languages, and puts the world’s food knowledge at users’ fingertips, empowering them to make the food, health and cooking decisions that are right for them.

It can connect to users’ kitchens, instantly sending the right time and temperature to their compatible Samsung oven. With more than 160,000 recipes, there will always be something new to cook.

Samsung AI Food app

By the end of the year, using Food AI, the app will provide personalised recipes reflecting users’ dietary requirements, such as converting recipes into a vegan version in just a few taps.

In a further enhancement due later this year, it will link with the Samsung Health app so tailored meal plans can be adapted to suit preferences and dietary requirements, as well as support users in reaching their health goals.

In 2024, using Vision AI technology, Samsung Food will use photos taken of meals to check nutritional information, recognise ingredients and recommend the best recipes to use them in.

Sony’s new compact smartphone

Sony confirmed the arrival of Xperia 5 V, a more compact version of its Xperia 1 V flagship that includes almost everything on the larger device apart from the 4K display resolution and the zoom camera.

It has two Gorilla Glass Victus 2 panels, a flat metal frame; a gorgeous 6.1in, 21:9 aspect ratio, 120Hz refresh rate, OLED screen and the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, 128GB of storage and 8GB of RAM.

Sony Xperia 5 V colour options

It comes with a 5,000mAh battery and supports 30W wired charging speeds and 18W wireless speeds. And you get a headphone jack and a micro SD card slot.

And you get a flagship 52MP camera sensor, superfast Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor and a heat diffusion shield for gamers.

The world’s first robot mop that can drain itself

SwitchBot S10 is an all-in-one robot vacuum and mop that connects to the family water supply and drainage system and can drain and refill itself. It is a self-emptying robot vacuum that empties itself.

The cleaning machine is designed to be hooked up to the home water supply – so that you don’t have to worry about filling up and emptying buckets of water. This means it can continuously clean without the need for manual water refills or emptying dirty water.

Switchbot S10 all-in-one robot vacuum and mop

Switchbot said that the S10 can be adapted to your bathroom, kitchen or laundry room plumbing within minutes.


S10 has high suction power rating of 6,500Pa, will navigate via lidar, which means it will map areas fast and be able to work in the dark, should you wish it. And it has built-in obstacle avoidance too.

Smallest true wireless earbuds you can buy

JLab says its JBuds Mini, which will be first shown at the IFA event in Berlin, are the smallest true wireless earbuds on the market and have been designed specifically for those with smaller-sized ears who struggle to find a good fit.

With a case smaller than most car key fobs, the earbuds are 30 percent smaller than JLab’s GO Air POP earbuds and are super portable. Despite the compact dimensions, the firm said that JBuds Mini retain its signature style and audio quality.
