The go-ahead has been given for a dog exercise area on the outskirts of Grantown.
Graham Henderson has been given the green light for the change of use of a field, the erection of a fence and a car park for 10 vehicles on land by the eastern boundary of the town’s Achnagonalin Industrial Estate.
The 0.65 hectares site which is currently open grassland with some trees is accessed off the A95 Aviemore-Keith road using the existing junction for the trading estate.
The field will be a secure facility with a secure entry gate system with PIN code security lock.
The perimeter of the field will have 1.8 metres high post and wire deer fencing surrounding the field, car parking area and the access gate.
Highland Council planning officer Julie-Ann Bain said in her report: “A field shelter is positioned on site providing shelter for dog walkers and there will be various dog training obstacles located around the field.
“Dog waste bins will be provided on site for customer use. There is no water supply on site.”
Ms Bain pointed out in her planning approval under delegated powers: “The footprint of the development will be minimal given the lack of built development and the modest scale of the structures that will be sited within the enclosed field.
“There will be little impact on soil due to the vast majority of the site remaining as grassland. It is considered that the development by virtue of this modest footprint will have minimal impact on the area.”
The development must start within three years as part of the planning conditions.
