Snakes, reptiles and bugs head to Eagles Meadow this August

by R.Donald

J&S Exotic Animal Experiences will be visiting Eagles Meadow Shopping Centre on Saturday, August 8, giving visitors the chance to meet a range of rescued and rehomed animals between 11am and 3pm.

The event, organised by The Hive Wrecsam, will take place next to the children’s play area and is free to attend, although donations will be welcomed to help support the care of the animals.

J&S Exotic Animal Experiences is an educational animal handling business run by keepers with more than 30 years of combined experience caring for reptiles and other exotic species.

A spokesperson said: “We use the knowledge gained in that time to deliver memorable, enjoyable and informative sessions with our wide range of rescued and rehomed animals.

“We’re so passionate about animal welfare that every penny we make from shows and events goes right back into helping more animals. Our motto is ‘Education, not exploitation’, and we like to think that really comes across in our shows.

“So come and meet some of the world’s most misunderstood creatures. Whether you want to learn why snakes aren’t as scary as you might think, or see how cool cockroaches actually are, we’ve got something for everyone.”

Visitors can expect the opportunity to meet a variety of creatures, including snakes, bugs and fluffy animals, while learning more about species that are often misunderstood.

Fern Evans, owner of The Hive Wrecsam, said: “I first met J&S a few years ago when they attended Wrexham’s Monthly Street Market, and have seen them at several different local events since. I absolutely love what they do.

“I’m really looking forward to working with them again and hope that people will come down to see what they’re all about and support their fantastic cause.”

Alongside the animal experience, visitors will also be able to enjoy refreshments from nearby businesses including SpudBaddie and Cwtch Café.

The Hive will also be serving ice cream, milkshakes, cold beers, ciders and other refreshments, with plenty of outdoor seating available throughout the day.

Josh Price, centre manager at Eagles Meadow, said: “Eagles Meadow is proud to bring yet another great event to our summer programme and there is more to be announced, so keep an eye on our social pages for updates, competitions and more community-focused events.”

Organisers hope the free event will provide an enjoyable and educational day out for families during the summer holidays while helping raise awareness of animal welfare and supporting the rescue work carried out by J&S Exotic Animal Experiences.

The event takes place on Saturday, August 8, from 11am until 3pm next to the children’s play area at Eagles Meadow Shopping Centre.
