Croatia Airlines has reached another milestone in the modernisation of its fleet with the arrival of its tenth Airbus A220—and a world first.
The aircraft, registered 9A-CAS and named Velika Gorica, is the first Airbus A220 anywhere in the world to wear the official Star Alliance livery, highlighting the Croatian flag carrier’s role within the global airline network.
The new aircraft is the airline’s eighth A220-300, joining two smaller A220-100s already in service. Built by Airbus and leased from Griffin Global Asset Management, the jet arrived in Zagreb from Montreal via Copenhagen early this morning.
Named after the City of Velika Gorica, the aircraft will serve destinations across Croatia Airlines’ network while showcasing the country’s national carrier on routes throughout Europe.
The delivery marks another step in Croatia Airlines’ ambitious fleet renewal programme. The airline is expected to receive four more Airbus A220 aircraft by the end of 2026, with the final aircraft scheduled to join the fleet in 2027.
The next A220 is already nearing delivery after successfully completing its first test flights in Montreal earlier this month.
