The Region is betting on aeronautics and allocates 4 million euro for the training of young, future aircraft maintenance workers. The initiative is part of the agreement that had been signed at the time with Atitech, the company that, with an investment of 16 million euro, has launched the opening of the new business aviation hub, i.e. a centre of excellence for the maintenance of private jets in Olbia. The Sardinian branch of the largest independent Mro (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul) in the Emea (Europe-Middle East-Africa) market, with headquarters at Naples-Capodichino Airport.
The starting point for this step was the publication by Aspal of the expression of interest addressed to training organisations and aimed at setting up the catalogue for the provision of vouchers to obtain the aircraft maintenance technician licence.
“With this measure we want to give a concrete answer to the many unemployed young people who are looking for a qualified and stable job opportunity in a strategic sector such as aeronautics,” says Desirè Manca, Regional Councillor for Employment. “Today, the aeronautical maintenance sector is booming, but there is still a strong imbalance between the demand for specialised personnel and the available training offer. For the regional executive’s representative, there are still ‘too many young people who, despite having skills and ambition, struggle with highly costly and difficult paths to follow’.
The new pathway passes through Aspal, the Sardinian agency for active employment policies controlled by the Region, and is intended to give an opportunity to those who do not have the financial resources to undertake a training course in this sector. “This is precisely why we have decided to intervene with an innovative and experimental measure that finances training vouchers to allow access to qualified courses aimed at obtaining an aircraft maintenance technician licence,” adds the executive, “in compliance with Easa and Enac international standards.
Unemployed young people aged between 18 and 30 years (and 364 days), resident in Sardinia for at least 12 months, in possession of a secondary school diploma, preferably with a technical-scientific orientation; a good knowledge of technical English and Iseenen not exceeding EUR 40,000 may participate.
