In Gonda, a young man was murdered by slitting his throat over a grudge related to a love marriage. The young man had eloped with and married the accused’s sister about one and a half years ago. According to police, the girlfriend’s brother called the young man through a common friend and killed him with a knife during a dispute while drinking alcohol.
After the incident that occurred late Saturday night in Chilmapur village under Wazirgang police station area, both the accused fled. Police have registered an FIR against two people based on the complaint filed by the deceased’s mother and have started searching for them.
After the incident, police took Azad to the hospital, where the doctor declared him dead.

Azad Singh (30), a resident of Purwa village in Wazirganj police station area, worked in a private job. His family includes mother Sheela Singh, younger brother Monu Singh, wife Pinky Singh, and four-month-old daughter Anamika. Azad’s mother and younger brother live in Amritsar, while Azad lived with his wife and daughter in the Nawabganj area.
According to police, about one and a half years ago, Azad had eloped with and married Pinky Singh, the stepsister of his friend and paternal uncle (relation-wise) Sandeep Singh. After this incident, a panchayat was held in the village and Azad’s family was socially boycotted. Following this, his mother Sheela Singh had also separated him from the household.
Azad had started living with his wife Pinky in a rented house near Nawabganj Mandi. Pinky stated that on Saturday evening around 7 PM, Suresh Vishwakarma, a resident of the village, had called Azad out from home and taken him away. About two hours later, she received information about her husband’s murder.
According to police, on the night of the incident, Azad had come to attend a program in Chilmapur village with his companion Suresh Vishwakarma. Before going to the program, both stopped in the village itself. During this time, Suresh mentioned drinking alcohol. Just then, Pinky’s stepbrother Sandeep Singh arrived there.
A dispute started between Sandeep and Azad over eloping with his sister and marrying her. It is alleged that during this, Sandeep attacked Azad’s throat with a knife. Seriously injured, Azad died on the spot. After the incident, the accused fled.
Azad’s wife said that on Saturday night, Suresh Vishwakarma from the same village had called and taken her husband away.
Ghanshyam Pandey, a resident of Chilmapur village, said that the murder took place right in front of his house. At the time of the incident, an invitation ceremony was going on in the village, which he had attended with his family. While returning, people told him that a person was lying in front of his house.
Ghanshyam said that initially he thought someone was lying drunk, but when he went closer, he saw the person was soaked in blood. After this, he immediately called Dial 112. As soon as the information was received, the police reached the spot.
Ghanshyam Pandey said that the murder took place right in front of his house. At that time, he had gone to a wedding function in the village with his family.

Police reached the spot on receiving information about the body and sent it for post-mortem. Based on the complaint of the deceased’s mother, an FIR has been registered against Sandeep Singh, who is related as an uncle, and Suresh Vishwakarma of the village. The accused are being searched for and they will be arrested soon.
