In an industry where motoryacht builders and designers tout explorer-esque lines and range, the yacht Fast Naan stands out. Her name is your first hint that she is not about to take to the seas for slow trips. Similarly, her glimmering paint job sets her apart from traditional white boats and sedate voyagers. However, she’s not performance-oriented just for the sake of speed.
The first of the ISA 130 Viper series, Fast Naan is nearly 125 feet (39 meters) of sleek silhouette. Since styling is by Fulvio De Simoni, the designer associated with hundreds of performance craft, it comes as no surprise. Neither does the anticipated speed. According to ISA Yachts, triple MANs with waterjets and a central booster should permit the megayacht to top out at 33 knots. Cruising speed should be just as swift, 26 knots.
That performance edge certainly comes partly from lightweight construction, fiberglass and carbon fiber reinforcements. Similarly, just as bluewater voyagers expect more leisurely displacement speeds, the shipyard had in mind customers who consider the pace integral to the overall experience. The yacht Fast Naan is therefore about enjoying a fun ride, and getting to favored destinations and anchorages in enough time to spend the majority of the day.
One of the onboard areas where the American owners and their family are looking forward to spending time is the multi-level, open aft deck. Following breakfast at the 10-person dining area on the upper level, they can go straight to soaking up rays just two steps down and aft or soaking in the ocean. Conveniently, cool drinks and snacks aren’t far away throughout the day, thanks to an unusual galley location. It’s just inside, with an adjoining bar outside, with an electrically opening glass partition. The glass lets the family have their privacy when wanted and turns the galley into a show kitchen for cocktail parties, birthdays, or just because it’s Tuesday.
Because just one side deck, to port, is aboard, Fast Naan gains a few more feet of living space inside the main saloon. The saloon is essentially two saloons, because it has two separate lounging spaces. Just like outside, the feeling is welcoming, casually chic, and comfortable.
But really, superyachts like the ISA 130 Viper are meant to be experienced out on deck. The just-mentioned port side deck allows a handful of family, or just the owners, to enjoy the foredeck lounge. Sunpads and settees surround a pool. Up on the sundeck, meanwhile, mores sunning and seating areas offer a little more privacy than at the waterline. Family meals are possible here, too, with a table beneath the fixed hardtop.
