The Adventures of Elliot Guide: How to Get More Accessory Slots

The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales gives you a single accessory slot from the moment you start playing. That’s fine early on, but accessories are some of the most build-defining pieces of equipment in the game, covering everything from fall damage immunity to doubling your magicite drops. Getting that one slot expanded to three makes a noticeable difference in how you survive tough encounters and explore the world. The good news is that both upgrades come from the same place: the Temple of Trials.

Where is the Temple of Trials?

The Temple of Trials sits in the Age of Safekeeping, west of the large tree with the gravestone marker. It’s also close to the first Doorway Ruin you visit during the main story, so you’ll pass near it naturally as you progress. The dungeon is hard to miss.

Once inside, the structure works as a series of consecutive combat rooms. You clear every enemy in a room to advance to the next level. Enemies don’t drop loot, but smashing pots and vases can give you restoratives. Heal up before finishing the last enemy in any room, because defeating it triggers the transition to the next challenge immediately.

One important rule: if you quit a run mid-way, you start back at level 1. There’s no checkpoint system.

How to unlock the second accessory slot

The first upgrade comes from completing the Novice’s Trial, the standard five-level version of the Temple of Trials. Each attempt that ends in failure costs 50 tul to restart, so come prepared.

Magicite Fragment counts are per level, awarded based on how quickly you clear each room.

After clearing all five levels, you receive the Warrior’s Mark. Equipping this key item permanently opens your second accessory slot.

How to unlock the third accessory slot

The Sophomore’s Trial unlocks later in the campaign once you visit the Age of Budding. The game notifies you when it becomes available. Head back to the same Temple of Trials location and prepare for a significantly harder run: eight levels instead of five, returning bosses, and a retry cost of 100 tul per failed attempt.

A few specific tips for the boss levels:

  • Level 4 (Rathomobile): Throw bombs to break the shield first, then use Faie’s Copycat ability with your Scythe and Boomerang for high damage output.
  • Level 5 (Shielded Frogs): Target the Flutist Frogs first. They’re providing the shield effect for the rest of the group, and removing them makes the room dramatically easier.
  • Level 7 (Lord of the Maw): When it attempts to swallow you, throw a bomb into its mouth to stun it, then follow up with your standard high-damage combo.
  • Level 8 (Rouser of Destruction): Destroy the ice spike armor fast, either by throwing ice cubes or keeping Faie’s Ignite active while she circles the boss. The platinum threshold is 3 minutes and 25 seconds, which is tight.

Finishing all eight levels rewards the Seasoned Warrior’s Mark, which opens the third and final accessory slot.

What’s the maximum number of accessory slots?

At launch, the cap is three slots. There are no additional upgrades beyond the Seasoned Warrior’s Mark.

Why do the extra slots matter so much?

With three slots, you can run combinations that a single slot simply can’t support. A defensive setup might stack the Scallop’s Charm (shield stamina recovery +100%), the Solid Bangle (shield stamina +10), and the Discerning Monocle (precise guard window +100%) simultaneously. An aggressive farming run could combine the Crystal Badge (magicite drops +100%) with the Golden Egg (tul drops +100%). Endgame boss fights become much more forgiving when you can layer a survivability accessory on top of your damage-focused setup.

The Sophomore’s Trial is designed for late-campaign characters, so don’t rush it. Bring upgraded weapons, strong Faie abilities, and the right accessories for the hazards you know are coming. After testing all eight levels, the biggest time losses come from Level 3’s collapsing platforms and getting caught by the Rouser of Destruction’s armor phase, not the boss damage itself.
