Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream has been an absolute juggernaut for Nintendo, topping the sales charts since its launch roughly 6 weeks ago. The game is doing killer numbers worldwide, and when there’s that much attention on something, it’s no surprise to see a number of shady characters swoop in to try and make a quick buck.
If you happen to have an Android smartphone and you’ve visit the Google Play Store recently, you might have noticed a considerable amount of Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream-related games and apps. As Nintendo fans know, none of these are official products from Nintendo and are instead clone/rip-off releases from developers with ill intentions.
Plenty of the game/app listings on the Google Play Store have names extremely close to Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, changing just a few letters or words in an attempt to fool customers. These listings even use art and assets that are extremely close to the real deal, with some seemingly stealing official art straight from the Big N.. Unfortunately, the powers that be have yet to swoop in and yank these games/apps from the Store, but hopefully that happens soon.
While people like you and I might not be fooled by these faux listings, plenty of people have already taken the bait. A quick look at some of these knock-off projects show that they’ve been downloaded a combined 150k times, which is nothing to sneeze at. Fingers crossed that Nintendo is already aware of the problem and is doing what they can to get these ill-intentioned apps pulled from distribution.
