During the summer of 2015, one of the most glamorous society weddings Europe has ever seen took place: Pierre Casiraghi, the grandson of Grace Kelly, married Beatrice Borromeo, the beautiful daughter of an Italian Count and a member of one of the most ancient aristocratic families in the country.
The celebrations began on 25 July in Monaco, with a civil ceremony and party for more than 700 guests at the Grimaldi Palace and the Hotel de Paris in Monte Carlo, hosted by the groom’s mother, Princess Caroline of Monaco, and uncle, Prince Albert II (husband of Princess Charlene). The bride wore a beautiful pale pink lace chiffon gown for the ceremony, designed by Valentino. It was to be one of a handful worn across her various celebrations.
This was followed by a religious ceremony and reception held in northern Italy on 1 August, on the islands owned by the Borromeo family in Lago Maggiore. The former was attended by a small group of family and guests on the smaller island of Isolino de San Giovani, while the party afterwards saw some 600 guests joining the couple on the island of Rocca d’Angera.
