A person owning a mobile shop in Rajkot’s Mandadungar area enticed a 20-year-old girl into a love trap, gave false assurance of marriage, committed rape, and then abandoned her. The young man had eloped with her 3 days ago, saying, ‘I will marry only you’. After committing rape four times at a relative’s house, he told the girl ‘I am married, I cannot marry you’ and left her.
In this matter, Ajidam police, based on the complaint of the victim girl, registered a case against Sohail Ibrahim Notiyar and have set the wheels in motion to apprehend the accused.
The accused wrote a mobile number on paper and gave it to the girl. Six months ago, when a 20-year-old girl residing in Rajkot’s Jungleshwar area was going to her grandmother’s house, the accused Sohail Ibrahim Notiyar gave her a slip of paper with a mobile number written on it at Bhavani Chowk.
After that, a conversation started between the two over the phone. Sohail introduced himself as a resident of the Mandadungar area and a businessman who owns a repair shop named ‘A.P. Mobile’ in Bhavani Chowk. Gradually, the friendship turned into love, and to gain the girl’s trust, Sohail also gifted her a mobile phone.
Accused abducted the girl on March 31 and took her to a relative’s house On March 27, 2026, the girl’s father caught her talking on the phone, scolded her, and broke the phone. When the girl informed Sohail about this, he lured her to leave her home and come to him.
On the night of March 31, 2026, the girl left her home and reached Pranami Chowk, from where Sohail took her on a bike to his relative’s house in Mandadungar Bhimravnagar. There, around 11 PM, Sohail said, “I will marry only you,” and committed rape four times against the girl’s will in a single night.
After the girl’s complaint, the police launched a search for the accused. The next day at 3 PM, the accused revealed his true colors and told the girl, “I am already married, so I cannot marry you.” Saying this, he abandoned the girl there.
When the girl returned home and narrated her ordeal, her family lodged a complaint at the Aji Dam Police Station. Currently, the police have registered a case under various sections, including rape, and have launched a search for the accused, Sohil Notiyar.
