The incident in Vista Road, Clacton, happened today (Sunday, April 26) at around 11.45am.

The pair broke in to a house and assaulted a man and a woman who live there, before escaping the scene with the car and jewellery as members of the public stepped in.

The attackers fled – one on foot and the another in a stolen Honda CR-V

The car is believed to have damage to its front driver’s side door and window.

Police say the jewellery has been recovered.

Both victims are receiving hospital treatment for injuries which are described as neither life‑threatening nor life‑changing.

One suspect, who fled on foot, is described as a white man with grey stubble and wearing all black.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

They said officers were on scene within minutes after being called to reports of a car being stolen from a driveway and are continuing to carry out inquiries across the Clacton area.
