After an issue arose with one of my travel gadgets arose last summer, I’m upgrading my travel tech and making sure I pack an Amazon Choice product for my next trip.
When travelling abroad, a key item to pack in your suitcase is a travel adapter. I’ve used the same adapters for years that change my UK plugs into the two-pronged plugs that are common in European destinations.
When I was travelling to Rome last summer I packed my travel adapers as usual, and when I arrived at my Italian city centre hotel hours later they were one of the first things I unpacked, expecting to be able to charge my phone.
I was suprised to find, however, that my adapters were not compatible. Instead, I needed an adapter with three prongs and had to quicky go out to a local shop to find one. While this wasn’t too hard to do given that I was in a city, it was an inconvenience and gave me a semi-stressful start to my holiday. Not ideal.
It also made me think how lucky I was that I was in a location where I could easily go out and get one. What about if i’d been somewhere more rural, or if I’d arrived in the middle of the night? I’d have been in trouble.
So, when I saw that the Amazon Choice Worldwide Travel Plug Adapter had gone on sale, I knew it was time to upgrade my travel gadgets and unsure I’m never in that situation again.
The Bigfish Universal Travel Adapter handles plugs for over 200 countries in a single compact unit. The sliding mechanisms let you easily switch between the different prong types, and it feels sturdy without being bulky. The key thing is you no longer have to carry around multiple travel adapters, or get caught out when you find you don’t actually have the one you thought you needed.

Please note, other variations are available, but the price will differ.

The Bigfish Universal Travel Adapter has been created for use with dual-voltage devices, which most modern phones, laptops, and cameras are. For high-power appliances like hair dryers or straighteners that require 220-240V conversion, you’ll still need a dedicated voltage converter. But for most people’s travel needs, this is an ideal gadget.
Amazon reviewers who already have the Bigfish Universal Travel Adapter are impressed by it. One person summarised the thoughts of many when they said: “ Works perfectly for international travel. Love that it has both USB-A and USB-C ports, plus multiple plug types in one. Great quality.”
Some users did note that while it’s compact, the sliding plugs do require a firm push to get the correct setting but they say it isn’t too much of an issue, especially not when considering the versatility of the product.
