Over the years, I’ve put my stand mixers through unbelievable feats, like testing their capacities with buttercream or using the dough hook well above speed 2 (neither of which I advise). Most times, my machines would have benefited from some handy accessories to keep them in top shape. And there’s a good chance you could use some, too.
Stand mixer accessories are some of the most underrated tools for hacking your mixer. Not to be confused with KitchenAid stand mixer attachments, accessories don’t add a new food prep function to your machine. Instead, they make your mixer easier to use, clean, store, and maintain. If your tilt-head stand mixer is difficult to slide back and forth on your countertop, there are bamboo bases for that. If you feel like you can never scrape your beater and whisk attachments completely clean, there is a silicone beater scraper and Whisk Wiper Pro for that, too. To make your life easier, whether that’s with a KitchenAid stand mixer or a Cuisinart machine, here are some tools that are sure to become your new best friends in the kitchen.
Best Stand Mixer Accessories Overall
Unlike plastic splash guards, this discreet, stainless steel pouring chute hooks onto the very rim of your stand mixer bowl. “It saves a whole lot of mess,” says one shopper, since the ingredients hit the chute first and not the beater. The brand also offers a model for glass mixer bowls.
Small appliance cords easily become a disorganized mess. Keep your countertop blender, stand mixer, and other small appliances looking tidy by attaching this cord organizer to them. The flexible cord holder sticks to flat or curved surfaces and allows you to wrap your appliance cords within, trapping the wall plug between silicone prongs.
I think half the time I stand over my stand mixer is dedicated to scraping the paddle and whisk attachments. This silicone-covered stainless steel scraper changes everything. It features notches made to tightly scrape every bit of batter from your mixing attachments. According to one shopper, the rounded edge also “fits perfectly to clean the bowl.” Plus, it’s heat-resistant, so you can use it to temper egg whites or scramble eggs.
If you like to keep your stand mixer pushed back against the wall until you need it, this bamboo base makes sliding it to the edge of the counter much easier. I like this solution better than slippery adhesive stubs, because the bamboo base doesn’t interfere with stand mixers’ anti-slip feet, and also lifts the machine up a tiny bit for taller home cooks and bakers.
If you have a planetary stand mixer with a central whisk attachment, you need this tool. Instead of reaching for every nook and cranny with a silicone spatula, attach the Whisk Wiper Pro before mixing. When you’re ready to scrape, pull it off, and your meringue or batter will come off with it. Conveniently, its curved shape makes it the perfect bowl scraper, too.
Optimized for KitchenAid stand mixers, this spring and washer accessory fits onto the attachment knob to prevent your beaters from jostling around or, in the worst-case scenario, falling off while in operation. This also prevents wear to your beaters and helps maintain bowl height for bowl-lift models.
Did you know your KitchenAid mixer has an adjustment screw? When that screw loosens, your KitchenAid tilt-head mixer can begin its notorious rattling and bouncing when mixing thick batters or kneading dough. The Mr. Mixer Everdime — a great addition to the spring and washer above — keeps that screw tightly in place and keeps your beaters positioned just above the base of the bowl for consistent mixing performance for longer.
Throwing your mixer attachments into the bowl or a random corner of your cabinet is not only unorganized but also wears down the stainless steel and enamel finishes. These adhesive holders stick to the underside of your wall cabinets, so you always have a place to store your attachments, without touching other items.
We’ve all had the scary moment where bread dough suddenly starts climbing above the dough hook attachment. Instead of downsizing your batch, attach this shield to the base of your dough hook to help push the dough back into the bowl where it belongs.
Dust is a stand mixer’s most sneaky enemy. It gets trapped in crevices and can shorten the time between maintenance checks and regreases. Using a stand mixer cover like this one prevents dust buildup and also protects your clean mixer bowl from needing a rewash before your next batch of cookies.
New KitchenAid bowl-lift stand mixers got a bit of a facelift recently. However, if you’re still using an older design like mine, your lift handle has no cover and can be quite uncomfortable to maneuver. Enter the Comfy Grip’s thick, non-slip design that instantly alleviates the pain of cold, hard stainless steel on your hands.
