SALEM, Va. (WDBJ) – A 35-year-old local tradition brought hot rods, restored classics and community members to the Salem Civic Center on Saturday, turning a shared love of automobiles into support for area veterans.
The annual Star City Cruisers Car Show, held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., was organized by the Star City Cruisers. All proceeds from the event are being donated to the Salem VA Medical Center.
In addition to browsing rows of classic and custom vehicles, attendees browsed various vendor booths and participated in a silent auction and raffles. But for many who gathered, the event’s appeal extends far beyond chrome and horsepower.
“It becomes like a family here, it’s like a group,” said attendee Jill Wright. “You see a lot of them at the other shows too, so it is like a little family.”
The Star City Car Show is held annually on the third Saturday of August.
