The new Ferrari Luce is certainly a controversial car, with a design unlike anything we’ve seen from the brand before. It’s not universally loved, so we’ve had a go at imagining how it could’ve looked.
When Ferrari unveiled the Luce in Rome, it caused a real stir. While the technology and performance are undoubtedly impressive, the design left many people cold. It doesn’t exactly scream “Ferrari”.
We couldn’t help but wonder what the Luce would look like if Ferrari had chosen to retain more of its classic visual DNA without sacrificing the revolutionary tech underneath. So, we decided to imagine it ourselves.
Remember, you can buy a brand new or used car right here on Carwow. And you can sell your car, too. We’re here to help you through every step of your car-changing journey.
The rules we set ourselves
We reckon there are some elements of the Luce which need to stay intact. This is Ferrari’s first ever electric car, so it needs some stand-out features to separate it from the brand’s supercars.
First, we kept the five-seat layout wrapped in a four-door fastback body style, a first in Ferrari’s history that makes perfect sense for an electric Grand Tourer.
The circular rear lights that nod directly to the 360 Modena and 458 Italia have also stayed. This is easily one of the most unmistakably ‘Ferrari’ parts of the whole car, so that absolutely had to stay. The side vents and the prominent front bonnet duct were kept intact, providing a direct link to recent cars like the SF90 and F8.
What we’ve changed
With those foundations left intact, we pushed the design into territory far closer to what most car enthusiasts picture when they close their eyes and think of Ferrari. The result is a Luce featuring a much more muscular side profile than the original.

Where the official Luce opts for clean, uninterrupted surfaces, our version has more sharply-defined wheel arches, deeper and more pronounced air intakes, and it has a much lower, sleeker silhouette.

Up front, the headlights are sharper and more horizontal. Around the back, the rear diffuser is much more aggressive and pronounced, which is exactly what you need to seriously manage airflow on a car pushing out over 1,000hp.

It’s a dramatic change compared to the real thing, but we reckon this is more recognisable as a Ferrari.
