WASHINGTON (7News) — Two cats in Southeast DC were rescued from a burning apartment on Wednesday.
According to the DC Fire and EMS Department, crews were first dispatched to Brandywine Street SW for a small fire in a closet.

When they arrived, they found the affected apartment was on the third floor. During their response, one firefighter received a minor injury, DCFEMSD said.
“2 cats located & removed from the apartment by Rescue Squad 3 and were provided oxygen on scene,” the fire department said.
The department shared photos of the two cats receiving oxygen. While they don’t look too keen on being inside the oxygen masks, they survived the incident.
