If you left your cat alone with a fresh batch of French fries, how long would they last?
One cat dad put his fur baby to the test, putting Felix the ginger cat through the Olympics of food training and best behavior. Luckily, he put a camera in the fast-food bag, so we get a close-up look at just how well Felix did.

“Felix, I need your help,” his dad says. “I bought some French fries, but I have a meeting right now. Can you keep them safe while I’m gone?”
Felix is very vocal in his responses, which dad takes to mean he’ll keep a close eye on the fries while fighting the urge to steal one for himself, but the camera doesn’t lie!
Next, the clip cuts to inside the fast-food bag, where we see Felix poking his head into the bag not once but a few times. Felix and his dad should be very proud of themselves, however, because Felix never once ate even a single fry. He took some sniffs, but that was it!
“Alright, Fefe, thanks for watching dad’s fries,” dad says once he returns from his meeting.
“As promised,” he says, handing Felix a well-deserved fry, “you’ve earned it, buddy.”
“Come on,” one commenter wrote, “this is noble restraint beyond most humans. I’m genuinely moved by Fefe’s commendable behavior.”
“Fefe was so good,” another said. “He didn’t eat any of those tasty fries in the bag. He only slobbered on them a bit from above.”
“Sir Felixander,” another person joked, “the keeper of fries.”

Can Cats Eat French Fries?
While it’s OK for most cats to eat one fry or steal a little nibble, french fries really aren’t a safe food for our feline friends.
Fries are deep-fried in lots of oil and covered in salt and other seasonings. While they taste very good to us, they don’t offer much nutritional value at all, and these toppings and cooking methods are extra unhealthy for cats.
It’s easy for cats to fall victim to sodium ion poisoning, as they are much smaller than we are. Besides, seasoning from onions and garlic powder may be toxic and deadly to cats, so it’s best to keep them away from french fries entirely.
We commend Felix for his loyalty to stand guard over his dad’s fries—that’s the best kind of guard cat we can think of.
