Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Skipped the Traditional Wedding Cake. See 6 Other Couples Who Chose Unexpected Desserts

by R.Donald

NEED TO KNOW

  • Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding reception featured over 30 cakes with unique 3D figures of them

  • Other celebrity couples, including Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra, have also opted for creative wedding desserts over traditional cakes

  • Some stars, like Stanley Tucci, did away with a post-nuptial dessert entirely and offered a savory snack instead

When it came time for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce to cut the cake at their wedding, they had options — around 30, to be exact.

TMZ reported that during the couple’s reception on July 3, 2026, at New York City’s Madison Square Garden, guests were treated to a massive table of treats featuring over 30 cakes, each adorned with a different 3D figure of the bride and groom.

The spread, which also included pastries, cookies and Pop-Tarts, was a hit, as one insider told PEOPLE, calling it “a focal point” of the celebration. But T&T are far from the only celebrity couple to get creative with their post-nuptial desserts.

Here are six other celebrity couples who didn’t serve traditional cake at their weddings in lieu of more unique confections.

After Chrissy Teigen and John Legend said “I do” in September 2013, they offered guests a massive yet simple carrot cake with cream-cheese frosting.

Though the model had previously told PEOPLE that she wasn’t “a big sweets person,” she looked back on the dessert fondly in an April 2018 Instagram post, admitting, “I miss you, giant cake.”

Victoria and David Beckham iconically sliced their multi-tiered wedding cake with a saber at their July 1999 wedding in Ireland.

Though it seemed like an unusual choice at the time, it made sense considering that the dessert featured alternating layers of chocolate cake and whole apples, sculpted by British artist Damien Hirst, per The Knot.

It’s not uncommon for A-listers to have gigantic, towering wedding cakes, but Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra had a larger-than-life dessert when they served a cake replica of their first ceremony venue: the Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur, India.

Sandeep Khosla and Aditya Motwane, the respective founder-owners of Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla and Motwane Entertainment & Weddings, told PEOPLE that the seven-tier design not only mimicked the palace’s art deco style but also featured a “romantic visual of the couple on the crest.”

Grace Kelly’s wedding to Prince Rainier III in April 1956 was a sight to see for many reasons — one of them being their uniquely decorated cake.

According to The Knot, the dessert’s six tiers featured unconventional accessories like a working music box (with figurines of the bride and groom), multiple sugar-coated churches and a cage with two living turtle doves that were later released.

Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux did serve cake when they got married in August 2015. But rather than a typical figurine or initials topper, the former couple chose to adorn their dessert with large puppets of themselves.

A source told PEOPLE at the time that the baker, Duff Goldman of Charm City Cakes, “had no idea it was for a wedding.”

It may have seemed like an odd choice for fans who weren’t aware of The Morning Show star’s love of Muppets. Aniston told PEOPLE in 2011 that she and director Will Speck made Muppets together, and she had since taken hers on vacation.

The award for the most unconventional wedding cake, however, still belongs to Stanley Tucci.

When he married Felicity Blunt in the summer of 2012, guests were served a multi-tiered stack of cheese wheels — a dessert substitute he repeated for his 62nd birthday in November 2022.

“I’m not a big dessert person,” The Devil Wears Prada star said in an April 2023 Instagram Q&A, clarifying that while their cake was made of cheese, they did have other dessert options for guests.

“I think cheese and honey together is a very delicious dessert,” he added.
