  • Micro weddings are becoming a popular choice for couples in 2026, primarily due to cost savings.
  • A micro wedding is an intimate celebration, typically with fewer than 50 guests.
  • Several Louisville venues, including museums and hotels, are offering micro wedding packages.
  • These packages often include the venue, an officiant, flowers, cake, and a champagne toast for a set price.

Micro weddings are making a big comeback in 2026.

What began as a necessary adaptation during COVID-19 social distancing restrictions, has resurfaced as a popular choice, primarily driven by cost savings.

Recently, The Knot Worldwide released a report on 2026 wedding trends, finding that the economy is top of most engaged couples’ minds. With the national average for a regular wedding held for 100 guests in 2026 expected to cost between $25,000 and $45,000, it’s no wonder couples are seeking out more affordable options.

And just in time for Valentine’s Day on Feb. 14, Louisville couples looking for an intimate small scale celebration (typically fewer than 30 guests) have a number of options with The Frazier Kentucky History Museum, 829 W. Main St., and The Speed Art Museum, 2035 South Third St., offering micro weddings on the most romantic day of the year, which this year falls on a Saturday.

“We’re so excited to be able to create a special day for couples to focus on love, not logistics,” said Emily Nixon, director of Special Events and Sales at the Speed Art Museum. “It’s incredibly rewarding to create beautiful, memorable wedding experiences at the Speed. We take care of all the details so couples and their guests can simply show up and celebrate.”

If you need a bit more time to prepare, Hotel Genevieve, 730 E. Market St., is offering micro weddings on March 29 and Yew Dell Botanical Gardens, 6220 Old Lagrange Road in Crestwood, offers elopement packages between May and October.

Venues holding special micro wedding events like The Frazier, Hotel Genevieve and The Speed typically schedule several ceremonies to take place throughout the day in a beautiful or unique setting.

At the Frazier History Museum, for instance, 10 ceremonies will be scheduled into half hour slots. Each ceremony takes place in a lovely Art Deco lounge, followed by a cake cutting and champagne toast behind a secret door in the museum’s Speakeasy exhibit.

Guests are invited to spend as much time as they like in the museum after the ceremony, including perusing the “Davis Jewelers Love and Marriage Exhibit,” which celebrates 150 years of marriage. Weather permitting, the wedding party can take photos on the Frazier Museum rooftop overlooking the Ohio River.

“A lot of people don’t want the stress or expense that goes along with a big wedding,” said Melanie Duke, director of event at the Frazier. “A micro wedding is a wonderful way to take care of the legal part of marriage and then spend the afternoon at lovely lunch or dinner with family and friends. Some people choose to throw a big party at a date in the future.”

Here’s what to know about micro wedding packages and small wedding venues in Louisville.
