Performance-boat owners are brand-loyal by nature, and through its center-console and catamarans MTI has been one of the most devoted customer-bases in the segment. To the build on that culture and deepen the brand-family, the Wentzville, Mo., company began hosting and producing events of its own events eight years ago.

Now those events are among most coveted reasons MTI owners cite for their purchase. And those MTI-only affairs, which now include winter and spring runs in the Florida Keys and a summer trek to Bahamas, have grown even more popular in the ensuing years.
So while it’s no surprise that 60 MTI owners their guests enjoyed last month’s run to the Hawks Cay Resort on Duck Key, it’s still an impressive number for a solo-brand event.
“It was a very big year for us,” said Taylor Scism, the company’s vice-president.

The MTI run to the Middle Keys from the Miami area included a lunch stop at Gilbert’s Resort and Tiki Bar in Key Largo before the fleet reached the Hawks Cay property. Participants could do as much or as little as they wanted—the largest “group” outing proved to be a raft-up on the Islamorada sandbar.
The MTI event boasted a healthy mix of center consoles and catamarans.
To bring it all home, MTI once again brought ace photographer Tom Leigh of Tommy Gun Images. A humble as he is undeniably gifted, Leigh delivered a slew of stunning photos from the event but directed all credit to his subjects.
“The subjects lend themselves well to making decent pics,” he said, then chuckled.
Indeed they do.
No MTI event in the Florida Keys would be complete without a lunch stop at Gilbert’s Resort and Tiki Bar in Key Largo.
