New global watch and jewellery trade show launching in 2027

by R.Donald

A new global industry trade show will debut next year in Switzerland, known as the Basilia Jewellery & Watch Fair.

The fair will be held in Basel (Switzerland) and is expected to have more than 400 exhibitors. The trade show is being organised as a collaboration between Informa Markets and MCH Group.

The event is described as a ‘new international stage where Asia, Europe and the wider global industry come together’. Margaret Ma Connolly, president and CEO of Informa Markets in Asia, said that this collaboration would be a unique addition to the broader industry’s annual calendar.

“Partnering with MCH Group was a natural choice. Both of our organisations are leaders in creating platforms where business thrives, and meaningful connections are made,” Connolly said.

“Together, we are building a global event that responds to the industry’s evolving needs while celebrating the diversity that makes it so dynamic.”

The event is expected to have a product profile that is half jewellery, one-quarter gemstones, and one-quarter watches. Messe Basel is described as one of Europe’s most advanced exhibition venues, with local authorities and businesses supporting the initiative. Andrea Zappia, CEO ad interim of MCH Group, said it was an event the broader industry needed.

“Basilia is a platform designed around the future of the jewellery and watch industries and their evolving needs,” Zappia said.

“By combining Informa Markets’ global reach and deep understanding of the industrial ecosystem with MCH Group’s expertise in creating world-class event platforms, we are establishing in Basel a new kind of international stage – one conceived from the outset to connect supply and demand across continents.

“Together, we bring the scale, expertise and credibility required to build something truly global from day one. We are excited about what we are building together.”

MCH Group was the organiser of the watch fair Baselworld, which has not been held since 2019. Listed on Switzerland’s principal stock exchange, the company’s largest current international exhibition is Art Basel. Informa Markets hosts two major annual trade shows in Hong Kong, as well as a roster of other international industry events.

The inaugural edition of Basilia Jewellery & Watch Fair will be held in Hall 2 of Messe Basel.
