The first batch of right-hand-drive (RHD) Mazda 6e production cars has been spotted in Thailand. This comes as the Japanese carmaker is gearing up for a July launch in Thailand and Australia, with a UK launch planned afterwards. The 6e is made in Changan-Mazda’s Nanjing production base in China, where it is known as the EZ-6.

Thairath Online reports that the first batch of 500 cars arrived at Laem Chabang Port, north of Pattaya City, on Friday. Notably, this delivery marks the first public sighting of a production RHD Mazda 6e, with more cars expected to arrive in both RHD markets ahead of their launches.
The 6e is also confirmed for other RHD markets, including the UK, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Indonesia. Although Mazda currently has no plans to bring the 6e to its home market of Japan, Carz Automedia reports that a Malaysian launch is under consideration.

To provide context, the Mazda EZ-6 was first launched in China in October 2024. Subsequently, the export-oriented 6e was announced at the 2025 Brussels Auto Show, with European LHD deliveries beginning in mid-2025. While the 6e is offered solely as an EV, the EZ-6 is also available as an extended-range EV (EREV).
More on Mazda, the 6e and the EZ-6
The Mazda EZ-6 and 6e are built on Changan’s EPA1 platform, and both cars are closely related to the Deepal SL03 & L07 sedans. This is also the case for the CX-6e SUV, also known as the EZ-60 in China. The SUVs are platform mates of the Deepal S07 SUV.
This is the result of the Changan-Mazda joint-venture (JV) in China. Mazda claims extensive tweaks have been made to ensure both cars embody the brand’s “Jinba-Ittai” philosophy.
The EZ-6 is offered with 56.1- and 68.8-kWh LFP CATL-Changan batteries in China, good for 480 and 600 km of CLTC EV range. It’s propelled by a single 190 kW (255 hp) rear motor.
EREV EZ-6s pair a 28 kWh LFP pack with a 1.5-litre 70 kW (94 hp) range extender, though its rear motor is de-rated to 160 kW (215 hp). It’s rated for 200 km of CLTC EV range and supports DC fast charging at 50 kW.
When the 6e launched, it was initially offered with the same 68.8 kWh LFP pack, along with a “Long Range” 80 kWh ternary NMC pack. However, the latter option was not well received, as its motor power was reduced to 180 kW (241 hp) and DC fast charging was limited to ~90 kW.
Mazda has introduced a new 78 kWh LFP option, also provided by CATL-Changan, for the latest RHD 6e models. Mazda Australia claims the new pack boosts both range and fast charging, allowing the 6e to go 560 km on a single charge. It’s expected that this option will be rolled out in Europe as well.
On pricing, an EZ-6 with the 68.8 kWh pack starts at 150,800 yuan (22,200 USD) in China. The 6e is priced at over double in most markets, with UK pricing reaching 38,995 GBP (51,500 USD).

Aggressive domestic pricing has not worked well for the EZ-6, though, with China EV DataTracker reporting only 1,833 units delivered in China in May 2026. Mazda has a relatively small footprint in China, though, and it’s on track to become the first JV to sell more NEVs than ICE cars.
For reference, the 6e measures 4,921 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width, 1,485 mm in height, and has a 2,900 mm wheelbase. Curb weight is 1,778 to 2,037 kg, depending on powertrain and trim. It features front McPherson struts and rear multi-link suspension.
