Harwood vets launch unlimited pet consultations plan

by R.Donald

Pennine Vets is launching the Healthy Pet Club Advanced scheme, which includes unlimited consultations with veterinary surgeons and nurses, as well as preventative care such as vaccinations, parasite protection, and annual health checks.

The plan aims to remove financial barriers that may prevent owners from booking appointments for health concerns.

Lizzie McLennan Green, veterinary director at CVS Vets, which includes Pennine Veterinary Centre in Harwood, said: “We know that for many owners, there’s often a moment of hesitation before booking a consultation.

“That’s completely understandable, but it can sometimes mean pets are seen later than we would recommend.

“We are making the cost of consultations, vaccinations and preventative healthcare predictable and we’re empowering owners to seek advice whether that’s a minor concern or something more serious.”

Recent research highlights the importance of the scheme.

A YouGov survey commissioned by CVS Vets found that 24 per cent of pet owners have delayed booking a vet appointment in the past year due to financial pressures.

This delay can impact health outcomes, as timely treatment is often crucial.

The research also revealed that 70 per cent of those who postponed appointments turned to the internet for advice, and 37 per cent consulted family or friends.

A recent study by RSPCA found 10 per cent using AI chatbots for pet care advice.

The Healthy Pet Club Advanced plan expands on Pennine Vets’ existing Care Plan, which already covers routine healthcare needs.

The main difference is the addition of unlimited consultations, giving pet owners continuous access to professional advice and support.

The plan costs £34.99 per month for dogs, £29.99 for cats, and £24.99 for rabbits.

It is designed to encourage earlier consultations for issues such as changes in appetite, behaviour, or other minor health concerns, which can often develop into more serious conditions if left untreated.

Pennine Vets hopes the scheme will make pet care more affordable and accessible, reducing the risk of delayed treatment and improving health outcomes.
