TROUTVILLE, Va. (WDBJ) – The Fincastle Volunteer Fire Department says one person was displaced and two cats are dead after a house fire on Tuesday morning in Troutville.

Crews say they responded at 1:15 a.m. on Tuesday to a call for a reported structure fire.

Crews were dispatched to the 200 block of Sunset Hill Ln. for a reported structure fire at 1:15 a.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 2026.

Arriving units say they witnessed heavy fire showing from the rear of a large two-story home with a walkout basement.

It took three hours to bring the fire under control and get it extinguished, personnel said.

“Unfortunately, one resident has been displaced as a result of the fire, and two cats did not survive. Our thoughts are with those affected during this difficult time,” the Fincastle Volunteer Fire Department said in a social media post.

The cause of the fire has not been revealed because it’s still under investigation.
