100 brides and grooms: Coldstream to host Okanagan’s first ‘mass wedding’

Those who have planned a wedding know just how expensive an endeavour it can be.

For couples looking for a less costly way to celebrate their matrimony, Okanagan Event Specialist Dee Cristante has concocted a novel event for the region.

Cristante has announced the largest mass group wedding to take place in the Okanagan. Up to 100 brides and grooms will say ‘I do’ at a wedding celebration at Coldstream’s Mackie Lake House on Thanksgiving weekend.

It’s billed as an affordable and distinctive way to get married, on a scale not before seen in the region.

Cristante says group ceremonies have become increasingly popular over the years, offering couples a fun and unique way to offset the high cost of hosting a traditional wedding.

With views of Kalamalka Lake, an officiant will guide couples through their customary vows in front of a live and social media audience. Rings will be exchanged before the couple is pronounced husband and wife, and each couple will be formally introduced to the audience before their official procession down the catwalk.

Engaged couples can still make this special day their anniversary, and the public has a chance to get in on the fun.

By obtaining a ticket, the general public will be invited to take part in the festivities. A glass of welcome bubbles, confirmed seating, a slice of wedding cake, entertainment and free parking are in store for those who purchase tickets.

The weekend celebration will also be enhanced by local caterers, beverage stations, photographers, and media influencers.

Wedding ceremony packages start at $500 and happy couples are encouraged to reserve their position for the Thanksgiving group ceremony celebration before it’s too late.

Tickets for the event go on sale Sept. 1.
