Jeff Bezos Is Reportedly Selling His $500 Million Superyacht: Koru

by R.Donald

While the attention this week has been on Jeff Bezos and his wife Lauren Sánchez Bezos underwriting the 2026 Met Gala and this year’s Costume Institute exhibit, at the same time, the Amazon founder is reportedly planning to sell his superyacht.

According to Page Six, “Jeff Bezos is quietly shopping his $500 million floating palace, Koru — because it’s just too huge to manage. The jaw-dropping vessel also has a $75 million support ship, Abeona, though it is unclear if this is part of the deal. According to reports, it costs $30 million per year to operate the two ships together. (Not that that’s a burden for the ‘250 Billion Dollar Man,’ but it may make buyers scarce.)”

The publication adds, “We hear Koru — which features a wooden sculpture of Bezos’ wife, Lauren Sánchez, as a mermaid on the prow — has become too recognizable for the Amazon billionaire. The ship, our source notes, is equipped with water cannons, which are meant to ward off pirates, but would probably also be useful for blasting paparazzi.”

Per Boat International, the Koru “is one of 4 sailing yachts longer than 100m, and, compared to similarly sized sailing yachts, her cruising speed is 2.25 kn above the average, and her top speed 0.63 kn above the average.” Designed by Dykstra Naval Architects, the Koru sails under the Cayman Islands flag.

It was on board the Koru where Bezos proposed to Sánchez in May 2023, and they celebrated that summer with an engagement party on board the yacht while docked in Positano, Italy.
