Yacht Superstar Showcasing Florida’s Gulf Coast: Sunday Superyacht Video

by R.Donald

We’re accustomed to superyacht charters offering vacation-seekers an escape to the Bahamas, the Caribbean, the Med, and other warm destinations. There’s a first time for everything, of course, and one particular yacht is breaking with tradition. The yacht Superstar is the largest we’ve seen to promote the waters of Florida’s Gulf Coast. Those waters conveniently are in her owners’ backyard. If you’re getting the sense that Superstar is for a different type of charter, you’re correct. There’s even more to the story, too.

A Westport originally seeing delivery in 2001, the motoryacht is from one of the builder’s most successful series, the W112. Despite the Pacific Northwest shipyard ceasing production of the series in 2023, 112s still remain popular on the brokerage market. Brian and Peggy Crotty, boat owners who had the itch to buy something larger, acquired Superstar in late 2025. They believed she’d be the perfect fit for their Kokomo Yacht Club fleet.

Kokomo Yacht Club is a private membership club allowing access to a variety of different boats and yachts in the Sarasota area. The fleet includes a sailing catamaran, for example. It further includes the rugged-looking, 100-foot (30.48-meter) Bravo. Regardless of size or style, members can book the boats for day charters.

Superstar offers day charters to club members, too. However, she also offers full- and half-day charters for non-members. Short periods aren’t the norm in superyacht bookings. For decades, brokers have been promoting weeklong—and sometimes multi-week—trips. Considering the Crottys aren’t brokers, though, they have a different focus. They purposely promote an area close to home because they fell in love with it. Simultaneously, they believe it deserves as much attention as Florida’s Atlantic coast.

What would a full-day charter look like? Naturally, the Crottys tailor it to what you’d like to do. For starters, if you’re eager to anchor out, they’ll likely recommend Jewfish Key or Big Pass. Both are regional favorites, and each has fantastic sandbars. The yacht Superstar can handle these skinny waters, given a draft of just 5’6” (1.68 meters). Her cruising speed of 22 knots mean she can get you where you want to go quickly, too. Head up to St. Petersburg, for instance, or just enjoy a view you rarely see from a luxury yacht like this.

The Crottys plan to add multi-day charters to Superstar’s schedule in the coming months as well. This will afford you two to seven days aboard. It’s time enough to cruise all the way south along the coast to Naples. You might even choose to go farther, like to Key West. If the Crottys can imagine it, it likely will happen.
