“There were still people intent on arriving in dangerously kept cars, without insurance, or with modifications that can cost lives”
The meet took place at Drakehouse Retail Park in the Crystal Peaks area of Sheffield last night (Monday, August 3, 2026).
Officers called out to the incident issued 30 Traffic Offence Reports to drivers for various illegal offences, such as heavily tinted windows and no number plates being displayed.
Sergeant Martyn Micklethwaite said officers spent three hours of their shift dealing with the incident, as he warned against using “car meets as opportunity to show off in poorly maintained vehicles and put people’s lives at risk.”
“We are here to ensure the roads are a safer place for everyone, and people’s lives are not taken or put in danger,” Sgt Micklethwaite said.
He continued: “We will not tolerate those who use car meets as opportunity to show off in poorly maintained vehicles and put people’s lives at risk.
“Last night, my team was at the car meet for over three hours of our shift, processing drivers and vehicles.
“While some people were abiding by the law, there were still people intent on arriving in dangerously kept cars, without insurance, or with modifications that can cost lives.
“We see the impact collisions have and as roads policing officers, we are the ones supporting families through tragedies no one should endure.
“We all have a responsibility for road safety.”
