Beyond her mother’s heirloom kaftan, Safaa found other meaningful ways to weave her heritage into the celebration. One tradition she was especially keen to honour was the Moroccan custom of the bride changing outfits throughout the wedding festivities. Rather than wearing only traditional Moroccan looks, she put her own spin on the ritual, alternating between European-inspired ensembles and her cherished Moroccan kaftan.
Safaa wore two additional looks that reflected different chapters of the celebration. The white wedding gown is a handmade Isabel Mueller gown crafted from artisanal lace and hand-embroidered with tiny crystals. The ivory-white silhouette featured a modern halter neckline, cascading floral embroidery and a long embroidered veil, paired with diamond jewellery, and Jimmy Choo’s Sacora sandals. Romantic yet refined, the look embodied the timeless elegance of a classic bride.
For the evening celebrations, Safaa opted for something more playful and unexpected: a shimmering gown by Toronto-based designer Steven Lejambe, discovered during a trip to Canada with her future husband. With its sleek silhouette, fluid silk lining and subtle touches of colour woven through its sequined finish, the dress brought exactly the sense of joy, movement and celebration she was looking for.
The evening also featured a subtle nod to Taulant’s Albanian roots. She carried a custom-made mindil, a traditional scarf used in Albanian wedding dances, which was hand-embroidered with pearls and delicate floral motifs. Designed to complement her caftan, the piece became a beautiful symbol of the union of their two cultures.
Even long before they were married, the couple had always found common ground in their love of travel, aligned values and shared careers in finance. They are effortlessly in sync. Their connection became even more apparent during a private vow exchange, when they discovered they had written almost the same words, differing only slightly. “I was shocked, emotional and even burst into sincere laughter because I truly did not expect it,” Safaa recalls. “That moment indescribably touched me because, on such an important day, it confirmed what I had always felt deep inside: Taulant truly is my soulmate.”
Their wedding was rich with meaning, celebrating the cultures, traditions and journeys that shaped them while looking ahead to the life they will build together. As Safaa reflects, “There is nothing more beautiful than bringing an inheritance to life and passing a tradition from one generation to the next.” Fittingly, their celebration honoured not just their love story, but the coming together of two rich heritages – and that, in itself, was beautiful.
