Tecno launches new entry-level smartphone with thin and lightweight design

by R.Donald

Tecno has launched the new entry-level smartphone, the Camon Slim, in the global market. At just 6.39 mm (0.25 inch) thick, the device joins the Spark Slim in the brand’s roster. For context, the smartphone is even slimmer than the flagship Motorola Signature, which comes in at 6.99 mm (0.27 inch) thickness.

Despite its slim form factor, Tecno has managed to squeeze in a 5,600 mAh battery into the Camon Slim with 60 W wired charging support (Anker Nano USB-C 65 W charger curr. at $19.99 on Amazon). As for the panel, the smartphone boasts a 6.78-inch curved AMOLED panel that outputs at a resolution of 2720 x 1224 pixels with a refresh rate of 144 Hz.

Under the hood, the device is powered by the MediaTek Helio G200 Ultimate processor paired with 8 GB of RAM and either 128 GB or 256 GB of internal storage with up to 2 TB storage expansion support via a microSD card. Software-wise, it runs Android 16-based HiOS 16.2 out of the box, and there’s no word on its software support from the brand.

Furthermore, you get a secondary rear LED panel integrated into the camera module. It features 354 mini-LEDs and is tuned with 55 unique lighting effects for notifications and other interactions. It has a single 50 MP Sony LYT-600 main camera with a 1/1.56-inch sensor and an additional flicker sensor. Up front, there’s a 32 MP snapper for capturing selfies and video chats.

Other notable features of the Camon Slim include dual speakers tuned by Dolby Atmos, an infrared blaster, IP68 and IP69 water and dust resistance ratings, and NFC support. The Tecno Camon Slim is available in new Mondrian, prism black, jungle green, Van Gogh blue, and burgundy red colorways. However, there’s no information available on its pricing and availability at the time of writing.
