One woman has been arrested in connection with the incident
A man is being treated for his injuries following an alleged assault at a house near Derby city centre.
A cordon was set up in Monk Street after police were called to the property in the early hours of Tuesday morning (June 23).
A 22-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.
Derbyshire police have said that a police presence will remain in Monk Street while inquiries continue in and around the area. People in the area have been reacting to the police cordon.
A worker in a nearby shop said: “It was scary this morning, I saw lots of police cars and they had blocked the whole street. They’ve mostly left now and I think all shops are open as normal. I hope the man makes a recovery soon and isn’t too badly hurt.”
Another resident, Daisy, 24, said: “I heard sirens last night and thought they sounded very close by and then this morning I got outside to walk my dog and there were police everywhere.
“It seems like police have it under control, I don’t know who it was that got injured but it’s still not nice to hear this happened.”
Amar Singh, 52, added: “My family was worried to leave the house earlier with so much police presence around as we didn’t know what had happened, but it seems like it’s all calmed down now.
“Obviously everyone is hoping this can be resolved soon and the affected person recovers quickly.”
Anyone with information, CCTV or doorbell footage between 5am and 9am on Tuesday, June 23, is asked to contact the police on 101 and quoting reference number 26*366282.
